Join us for Movie Night on the first Wednesday of every month!

Next movie + workshop will be on March 6 from 6 PM – 8:30 PM

Our movie for this month will be the award-winning documentary “Traces of the Trade: A Story From the Deep North.” Filmmaker Katrina Browne discovers that her New England ancestors were the largest slave-trading family in U.S. history. She and nine relatives retrace the Triangle Trade, uncovering the vast extent of Northern complicity in slavery, and gaining fresh perspectives on the black/white divide. Most white Americans have foresworn overt racism, but what remains? What are the structural inequities, and what kinds of racial baggage do many of us carry, such as the “racial stalemate” of black anger and white resentment names by President Obama? “Traces of the Trade” premiered at Sundance, and aired on PBS/POV.
