“A Jefferson BIBLE Study” Part 1 (Adult RE)

Sunday, October 27 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The Jefferson Bible offers extraordinary insight into the logic of Thomas Jefferson and the Gospel of Jesus. Working in the White House in 1804, Jefferson set out to edit the Gospels in order to uncover the essence of true religion in the simple story of the life of Jesus. Jefferson was convinced that the authentic message of Jesus could be found only by extracting from the Gospels Jesus’s message of absolute love and service, rather than the miracle of the Annunciation, Virgin Birth, or even the Resurrection. Completed in 1819, this little book is the remarkable result of Jefferson’s efforts. Join us on this Sunday as we uncover the historical origins of this historic document that all UUs revere! We will be covering the first half of the Book in this first study session as arranged by Jefferson. The major focus will be on Jesus’ early life, morals and parables.

Contact Blaine at 575-442-5290 to RSVP to this class and secure your own copy of the book for you to read right away!

Samhain Celebration, Ritual & Potluck

Saturday, November 2 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Tradition holds that Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest and the start of the coldest half of the year, and with this transition it’s also celebrated as the beginning of the spiritual new year for Pagan practitioners, which is also why it’s nicknamed “The Witches’ New Year.” Join us in our celebration preparing for a New Year as we face the incoming darkness together. This event is open to any and all. Come in costume, bring pictures and share stories of your loved ones as we honor those who have passed.

Potluck starts at 6:00 PM. Bring a dish to share with everyone please!
Ritual will begin promptly at 7:00 PM.
